From 7 to 10 March 2023, the third meeting of the YOUNGDEAL project took place in Sofia, organised by BASD Balkan Agency for Sustainable Development.
During the meeting, the importance of promoting environmental attitudes among youth was discussed. It was concluded that without using social media and showing the tangible benefits of being “eco”, it is not possible to get young people interested in this topic.
We were very impressed by Hristo Radoslavov from the Bulgarian Youth Council, who shared his ideas on how to activate young people and involve them in their local communities. For this, it is necessary to develop updated strategies for youth councils, both at municipal and national level. In addition, each council should have its own budget and the possibility to really influence the functioning of their localities. The authorities should listen to the voice of young people and implement the most interesting ideas.
The bread making workshop was a good way to integrate all participants and have a good time together. In addition, we were able to visit the most beautiful corners of Sofia and get to know the local culture.
This project, led by the Diputación de Alicante (Spain) is carried out in collaboration with the City of Kętrzyn (Poland), Panevėžio miesto savivaldybė (Lithuania), Podjetniški inkubator Kočevje (Slovenia), Comune di Cervia (Italy), Municipality of Karcag (Hungary) and Municipality of Amarante (Portugal).
